Not only was Jim my mentor when we served together in the US Army in Germany he was and remains a dear and precious friend. I will always remember our trip into East Berlin where Jim sat in the lap of a huge stature of Joseph Stalin. I have a photo of the event with Jim smiling away. Those were times when one had to wear civilian clothes in crossing through Check Point Charlie from West Berlin to East Berlin. A most memorable visit. I will miss you my friend. If not for Jim I would not have gone to law school.
