James R. Cook

Jim, known as "Cookie" or "Pally" to many of his friends, passed away on November 1, 2018, joining his beloved wife Mary.

James Richard Cook was born in Seattle on June 15, 1929 to Jo D. and Constance Cook. Raised on Queen Anne Hill, he graduated from Queen Anne High School in 1947. He attended the University of Washington where he was a proud member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, earning a BA in 1951, and in 1954 graduating from the U.W. Law School. Summers in college he worked at Glacier National Park driving a red tour bus, a job that he loved. If you mentioned Montana you were sure to hear about his time at Glacier.

After finishing his schooling he served in the US Army in Germany for two years - another source of great memories and stories. Upon his return he worked as a King County Deputy Prosecutor for three years and then went on to work as an attorney in private practice. He was appointed judge of Shoreline District Court in 1968 and served there until he retired in 1991. He and his wife then moved to Hansville, WA., where they enjoyed their retirement years.

He was Past Master of Arcana Masonic Lodge, a member of Scottish Rite, and a Nile Shriner. He was heavily involved in Shoreline Rotary, serving as President and member. He was a dedicated and enthusiastic Husky fan, holding football season tickets for over 60 years. He loved fishing, camping, playing Cribbage and Bridge, and passed along his passion for these to his family.

He is survived by sister Joanne, son Tim, daughters Linda (Kelly) and Laurel (Steve), grandchildren Natalie, Whitney, and Danny.
