John Arthur SMEVIK John (Jack) Arthur Smevik; son of Hieronymus (John) and Ellen Marie Smevik, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 10, 2011. He was born on November 7, 1923 and grew up during the depression era in Seattle, Washington. Upon graduation from Queen Anne High school in 1941 he started work at Sunset Electric. After hearing the bombing of Pearl Harbor on his brand new RCA radio, he joined the Army at the age of 17 and was shipped to Africa for WWll. He returned 3 years later with a photo journal of his time in Africa and France that was the fuel for many after dinner stories. He operated his own auto repair business 'Johnny-Ray Tune-up' in downtown Seattle for over 40 years. A proud 32nd degree Mason he was a member of the Seattle Shrine Nile marching unit, holding the high position of 'Director of Uniform Units'. After he retired from the auto repair business, he greeted the guests at the gates of Broadmoor until retiring for good at the age of 78. He was preceded in death by his first wife Eleanor, second wife Delores, brother Herald, sister's Mildred and Thelma and son Mike. He is survived by his sister Evelyn; children David, Ron, Diane, Gary and Jack; grandchildren Sean, Bryan, BJ, Erica, Jack, Ruby, and two great grandchildren, Griffin and Markus.
