John R. Pettit Obituary
John R. Pettit

September 4, 1946-August 10, 2018

John passed away peacefully in early August after a courageous battle with ALS. He was born in White Center, Washington, graduated from Washington State University with a bachelor's degree and spent two years with the Peace Corps before earning a JD from the University of Washington.

John was married to Connie Miller for over thirty-five years; they were inseparable as friends and spouses. Together, they enjoyed gardening, jazz and swing, crabbing on Puget Sound and entertaining. Home always included a rescue cat, a Shih tzu and a daily collection of crossword puzzles. John and Connie were active in supporting local and national political and environmental causes. They traveled as much as careers would allow, returning frequently to favorite spots in Maui, British Columbia and Carmel. Connie predeceased John in January of this year.

John is survived by his sister Ruth Nelson (Bob), his sister in law Eileen Franklin (Paul), numerous nieces and nephews, and countless friends. His careful, caring nature will live on in our hearts.

Memorial Donations may be made to the University of Washington School of Medicine or The Nature Conservancy of Washington.
