Kathleen Cecelia Kennedy

Kathleen (Katey) Cecelia Kennedy born October 19, 1942, to Grace Elizabeth Ottinger and Mitchell Hewitt, passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2018. Katey had been bravely battling lymphoma and ovarian cancer. She fought with determination and an unfailing sense of humor.

Katey was born in Seattle and grew up in Bellevue. As an only child she was surrounded by many cousins who were more like siblings to her. She graduated from Holy Names Academy where she met lifelong friends. Upon graduation at University of Washington, she embarks on her first European trip with friends unlocking her love for travel.

Katey married Colonel James Kennedy in 1975 and settled back in Bellevue. Together they had two children, daughter Meredith and son James. Katey was devoted to caring for her children and was actively involved in their schools.

Katey enjoyed countless trips to Europe with friends and family; most notably was completing the nal stage of the Camino de Santiago in 2007. She served on the board of Holy Names Academy as well as numerous charities and clubs. Her greatest enjoyment was her family and caring for her grandchildren.

Katey is preceded in death by her mother and father. She is survived by her husband James, daughter Meredith Groseclose (Jack), son James Kennedy (Krystal), ve grandchildren, Sol, Mackenzie, Collin, Jax, Miles, and four step children.

The family wishes to thank everyone for their unending support and love.

A funeral will be held Monday, August 13, 11:00am at Sacred Heart Church, Clyde Hill.
