Obituary Condolences

Leta W. GIBSON May 15, 1915 ~ Feb. 11, 2011 Our wonderful loving mother passed away quietly at home on Feb. 11th with family by her side. Born an Illinois farm girl she graduated from Industry H.S. and attended Knox College. Leta went on to Chicago where she met and married her husband, Dr. Frank C. Gibson. They relocated to Seattle in 1942 after the birth of their first son, Stephen. Frank completed his medical residency and set up his medical practice in Ballard where they lived and added sons Richard and Donald and daughter Judith. Moving to the Blue Ridge areain 1950 Leta enjoyed gardening, bowling, contributing her beautiful alto voice to her church choir, and managing the active family life of a home with 4 children. In later years of their marriage, Leta and Frank enjoyed extended travels, their grandchildren and their 50th Wedding Anniversary. After Frank's death in 1990, Leta began the next phase of her life as an independent woman, later moving to Ida Culver House and enjoying her many friends there along with new activities. Her last move was to Sunrise of Edmonds where she spent her final days with new friends, crosswords and books, improving her mind to the last. Leta is lovingly remembered by her 4 children, 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, a niece and nephew and many friends. A memorial service was held this past week at Wiggen & Sons and Leta was buried with her husband at Evergreen Washelli in Seattle. Leta's family is most appreciative to Providence Hospice of Snohomish County for their outstanding care and attention to our mother and to the Staff of Sunrise of Edmonds for their truly generous hearts.
