Luba Ann Alexander

Luba Alexander, daughter of Adelaide and Otto Grunbaum, died peacefully at her home surrounded by family on August 20, 2013. Luba was born on July 14, 1921. She attended Franklin High School and continued on to the University of Washington where she met the love of her life, Ira Alexander, to whom she was married for 64 years. She was devoted to her children and took part in many of their extra-curricular activities, including being a den mother, Girl Scout leader and Sorority advisor. She loved entertaining whether at home in Seattle or wintering in Palm Desert, always enjoying a good party. She was an avid golfer and, with her husband, a boating enthusiast. Her Mount Baker friends were very special to her as were her Pan Club friends, women who had known each other since college and continued sharing in each other's lives over weekly games of Pan, Mahjong and Bridge. Luba's life was one of kindness and compassion. She volunteered as a school tutor, provided a variety of services at the UW Hospital, and served as Temple De Hirsch Sisterhood President.

Luba is survived by her daughter Joan Alexander, her son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Gail Alexander, her grandchildren, Matt and Marcie Weinstein, Emily Weinstein, and Spencer, Lewis and Nathan Alexander, and her two great grandchildren, Abby and Nate Weinstein. Luba lived a full and active life and will be greatly missed by all. The family wishes to thank her loving caregivers from Hyatt Home Care Services, all of whom Mom adored.
