Marcia D. BURNS April 1, 1918 ~ March 24, 2011 Marcia D. Burns died at her home on March 24, 2011, surrounded by her loving family and husband of 71 years. Marcia was born the youngest of eight children in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. In 1933, Marcia moved to Seattle, WA where she graduated from Garfield High School in 1936. After her graduation, Marcia returned to Edmonton, where she met and married an aspiring entrepreneurial lawyer named Bernard (Bernie) Burns. With just 50 cents to their name, Marcia and Bernie emigrated to Seattle in 1940. Four children shortly followed. A throng of nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren would soon enrich their lives. Always close to her heart was the family cabin on Lake Ki, Wa., where family and friends spent many wonderful summers. Noted for her quick wit, grace and infinite kindness, Marcia deeply touched everyone she met. Marcia was preceded in death by her eldest daughter Lynne DeJaen (Albert). She is survived by her adoring husband and soul mate Bernie, children Steve (Marlene), Bonnie and Brian Burns, grandchildren Robbie, Stevie and Gregory (Laurie) DeJaen, Jennie, Jason, Bradley, Carly and Ivey Burns, Hayley (Jeremy) Duitch, and great grandchildren Joshua, Simon, Rachel, Justin, Ellie, Samantha, Noah and Jonah. Marcia was supremely cared for by Dr. Noah Silver and caretaker Esmeralda Soto. A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 27 at 2:00 PM at Temple De Hirsch Sinai, 1511 East Pike St. Seattle, WA; 206-323-8486.
