Margaret Mowery LILJEGREN Peg, 99. Born in Pittsfield, Mass. May 25th, 1911 to Rev. Dwight F. and Elizabeth Mowery, died March 28th, 2011, Bellevue, WA, with family present. Great appreciation goes to Pacific Regent nursing care for the past two years. She graduated from Radcliffe in 1933 with a degree in Chemistry. Sailed on the Yankee. Met Gus on the snow train out of Boston in 1936 and married in Newport, RI June 1938 with her father officiating. In 1943, WWII, Peg and a few others were the first women offered engineering classes at Northeastern University in Boston. She raised three children, taught at The Mowery School (family owned) and had a keen interest in organic foods and natural health. Moved to the Seattle area in 1964; boating was her favorite activity with family. Her sense of humor stayed with her even as her memory failed. Peg was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Gus Liljegren, in 1992 and her two brothers. She is survived by her sons, Jon (Susanne) and Garth (Laurie), daughter, Pat, five grandchildren, a nephew, three nieces, six grandnephews and nieces and a great grand nephew, Elliot, born March 23rd, 2011. Memorial service - Newport Covenant Church, 12800 Coal Creek Parkway SE, May 25th, 2011 5:00 PM. Reception and food following. Memorials in her name to Bastyr University, 14500 Juanita Drive NE, Kenmore, WA 98028 or Northfield Mount Hermon, One Lamplighter Way, Mount Hermon MA 01354-9638.
