Obituary Condolences

Mark George BOCEK Mark George Bocek was born in Portland, Oregon. He graduated from Oregon State in mechanical engineering. He served in the United States Army during World War II in southeast Asia. After leaving the Army he moved to Seattle in 1948, joined The Boeing Company and married Margaret Braun in 1951. Mark was intensely interested in all things mechanical, electrical, and structural. He designed the family's home in Burien. He enjoyed woodworking. He loved hiking and camping, taking his family twice to Alaska and countless times to Mt. Rainier and national parks throughout the western states. Mark was also a talented musician who loved the clarinet. He was a member of the Portland Youth Philharmonic, the Highline Symphony, the Emeritus Symphony, and finally the Little Band led by George McGraw. On February 14, 2011 Mark passed away peacefully at the age of 89. He is survived by his wife, Margaret, his sons Joseph (Karla), Thomas (Eileen) and Peter (Lori); his daughters Barbara and Susan; grandchildren Timothy, Matthew, Michael, Kevin, Kayla, Ashley, and Zoe, all of Seattle, and his sisters Rosemary and Patricia, both of Portland. Mark was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His deep faith, vast knowledge, sense of humor, and devotion to his family will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Northwest Harvest or The Maryknoll Society. The Rosary will be said on February 18 at 7:00 p.m.; the funeral service will be held February 19 at 11:30 a.m., both at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 15236 21st Avenue SW, Burien.
