Obituary Condolences

Patricia J. EGNER Longtime Eastside resident, Patricia J. Egner, died June 4 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Greeley, CO in 1923 and moved to Seattle in her teens. Pat was awarded a scholarship to Reed College at the age of 16 and graduated with a biology degree in 1944. In 1947, she married Ray F. Egner and together they opened Ray Egner's Sport Center in the Bellevue Shopping Center. Pat loved to design houses and designed and had built the family home near Lake Sammamish. Pat and Ray were active in the group responsible for getting the Overlake area annexed into Redmond in the 60s. In 1970, she built a mountain cabin near Cranbrook, BC where she lived for several years while working at a sports shop. In 1977 she moved back to Bellevue and worked for Pace Chemical in Kirkland until retiring at the age of 72. She is survived by her children, Patsy (and Hal) Cook of Bainbridge Island, Heidi (and Paul) Wittig of Mansfield, WA and Skip Egner of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; her grand children, Casey (and Mandy) Cook, Mats (and Lacey) Cook, Dustin and Travis Wittig; her great grandchildren, Sydney Campbell, David and Kasen Cook. A celebration of Pat's life will be held, Thursday, June 9th at 11:00 AM at Crossroads Retirement Center, 15750 NE 15th St, Bellevue.
