Pauline (Polly) Elizabeth DURAND January 27, 1918 ~ February 13, 2011 Polly Durand, a long time Bellevue resident, passed away peacefully Feb. 13, 2011 She was born in Bellingham, and was part of the Pacific American Fisheries family. She attended Normal School (presently WWU), Fairhaven Middle School, and Whitman College, where she became a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She met Paul A. Durand of Walla Walla, and they were married Jan 1, 1938. They resided in Walla Walla, raising 2 children, until 1962, when they moved to Bellevue. Paul passed away in 1986. Polly was a loving person. She enjoyed people of all ages, and many grew to be her extended family. She was a companion to the late George Schofield, and in recent years a devoted friend to the late Bill Scott of Bellevue. She was a previous member of PEO, Assistance League of Bellevue, Women's University Club, and St. Thomas Episcopal Church Altar Guild; also volunteered at The Vibes Program, Overlake Hospital and the American Red Cross. She is survived by daughter,Judy Chermak, (Howard) of Edmonds; son, Paul M. Durand, of Mt. Vernon, 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandchild. Friends are invited to a celebration of her life from 2:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 6 at Pacific Regent, 919 - 109th Ave. NE, Bellevue. Private internment at St Thomas Episcopal Church. Donations may be sent to the American Red Cross or to Washington Talking Books and Braille Library, 2021 - 9th Ave., Seattle 98121. Arrangements made by A Sacred Moment, Inc.
