Jan Przemyslaw BALUT Przemyslaw Jan Balut passed away on February 6, 2009. He was born June 7, 1924, in Grudziaz, Poland. He lived through WWII in Poland and later escaped communist Poland in 1950 by stealing a PO-2 biplane and flying with his brother to Sweden. He worked as an engineer in Canada where he met his wife, then worked for Boeing in Seattle and was a resident of Bellevue for 50 years. He had a great love for hiking and climbing with several expedition climbs in the Himalayas and he climbed Mt Rainier over 30 times, the last being when he was 80. His brother Tomir Balut, wife Kris Balut, his 3 children, Grazyna, Tom, and Halina and 6 grandchildren survive him. There will be a graveside service at Sunset Memorial Cemetery on February 20 at 2:30.
