Richard Peter CARDEW Richard Peter Cardew, 91, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2011, in Phoenix, AZ. Richard married Lois Sondstrom before being deployed overseas, and proudly served in the Army while stationed in England, France and Germany during World War II. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. After the war Richard became a registered patent agent and later worked as an engineering representative for National Iron Company and its succeeding companies. He retired in 1982 and spent his final years in Washington and Arizona. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Eva; wife Lois; eldest son Ricky, sisters Bernice (Huttner-Allen) and Lois (Orr); and brother Clarence. He is survived by his children, Jerry, Nancy (Ashland), Tom, Carol (Uraine), and David, 11 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. He taught us the importance ofour families and how to appreciate and respect the outdoors while fishing and hunting. His legacy will continue as we pass down his many stories of growing up in Ely, hardships during the Depression,his military service, and his experiences in the great outdoors. A Memorial Service will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, April 25, at Valley View Bible Church, 4222 E. Lincoln Drive, Paradise Valley, AZ.
