Bob, 90, passed away peacefully at home in Vancouver, Wa. this past Friday. He was born in Seattle and grew up on Angle Lake, graduated Highline High in 1940 and joined the Naval ROTC at the U of W. Graduating with a B.S. in engineering in '43, he went active duty as a Lt. jg. serving aboard the USS Trathen DD530. He met a Navy Wave, Dorothy Deacy of El Cerrito, Ca., the "love of his life", and married shortly after VJ Day on Sept. 1st 1945. In 1946 Bob joined Kenworth Truck Co. as a draftsman/engineer, and after numerous moves, challenges, and advancements, retired in '84 as Senior Vice President of PACCAR, Bellevue. In retirement, Bob and Dorothy enjoyed their summers boating in the San Juans and winters golfing in the SW. In their final years, they lived near their daughter in a suburb of Houston. In '08 they moved near their son in Vancouver, Wa. where Dorothy past in 2010. Bob is survived by his son Bruce of Ridgefield, Wa. and daughter Cyndi of Montgomery, TX., 5 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. As both Bob and Dorothy were Navy Veterans, the service will be held at the Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, on Thursday, April 18th at 12:30pm.
