Sara Eskenazi Obituary

Sara ESKENAZI (née Rousso) Sara Eskenazi (nee Rousso) - born in Seattle on August 20, 1917; died in Seattle October 21, 2011. She was the beloved mother, wife, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and great aunt. Sara was from a pioneer Seattle Sephardic Jewish family that arrived here in the early 1900s. She worked in a salmon canary during the depression and married Isaac Eskenazi (1912-1967). She studied computers in the late 1950s and went on to supervise the computer operation for the Washington State Grange Insurance Company before retiring after a career there. Sara was a spectacular cook and baker specializing in Greek and Middle Eastern Cuisine. Her friends, relatives and colleagues would consult with her for her sage advice. She loved to knit blankets for the children at Seattle Children's Hospital and produced them by the box loads. Sara became a world traveler after she retired. Nevertheless, she especially loved spending time at her beloved Alki Beach and along the shores of Lake Washington with Mt. Rainier in the background. She loved Seattle!! She is survived by her children Rebecca Eskenazi, Sam Eskenazi, Vicki Brown, her grandchildren Sam and Megan Brown, Becca Zerkin, her great grandchildren Julian and Zadie Taylor, her siblings Lily Capeloto, Lou Rousso, Azaria Rousso, Mimi DeBurle and Esther Holcenburg.
