Simon Erik ACETO 1967 ~ 2010 Our beloved Simon died on May 10, 2010, from complications of renal failure. He was born in Bellevue, Washington, in 1967, to Emily Dike and David Arntson. Edward Aceto became Simon's stepfather in 1975, and adopted him and his brother, Julian. The boys cherished their new family name, and Simon changed the spelling of his middle name. In his youth Simon loved to ski, sail, and tease the truth out of people. He loved to be on the water in whatever craft was available, sail, motor or row boat, or homemade log raft. He was a thoughtful and tempestuous soul who was capable of great empathy, insight and hope. Simon was a spectacular and confident salesman. As a child, he sold home-grown apples to neighbors and fresh clams to yachters. Later, he provided on-site knife sharpening services to chefs. Rarely seen without a starched collar, tie, and a twinkle in his eye, he had charisma. He stood out amidst the purple hair and tattoos at Beth's Café, in Seattle, where he met his wife, Nicole. Simon and Nicole Burns were married in 1997, surrounded by relatives in Simon's Uncle Charles' home in Fall City, Washington. Simon found great comfort in family. His son, Anthony James, was born in 1998. Simon devoted the rest of his life to Anthony, loving and teaching him everything he knew about the world. In recent years, as Simon became less mobile, he posted a sign in view from his favorite chair:'I DO THIS FOR MY SON.'A clear inspiration and reminder of his drive to give all he could to Anthony. Simon had a big heart and a spirit strong enough to survive many severe medical traumas. He succumbed to a lifelong illness after a joyous weekend playing with Anthony. Simon was predeceased by his mother, and survived by his wife and son, his brother, his adopted father and his father. I am deeply saddened to see that Simon has left us. He was robbed of the long life that is often taken for granted. Simon already knew that to be so and in the long ago time I knew him, he never took any of his time for granted. I have the gift of remembering him so young and vital and the powerhouse he will always be. I will never forget you Simon. You added to my life and who I am today.

I was a friend of Emily's and I know her passing must have taken a toll on Simon but I had no idea he had died. I'm sooo sorry for the whole family who have suffered both these losses within a few months of each other. The only blessing is that they will be together for all eternity now. May God bless you all.
