Ted Frost Obituary

Ted Strathy Frost

April 6, 1932 ~ November 6, 2018

Ted S. Frost peacefully left this world on November 6, 2018

surrounded by his loving family. He was among the first of his family to graduate from a university (UW) and he did so with degrees in both mathematics and accounting that he developed into a successful career as a CPA which he practiced until his death. He began rowing while growing up in Lake Forest Park, continued as a Husky coached by Stan Pocock. He and his lifelong friend, Bob Rogers, competed and won gold in the 1959 Pan American Games and then onto the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome. Ted may also be described as a "Renaissance" man, as he pursued his love of lifelong learning partaking of graduate level classes at the UW in such topics as Virology and Astrobiology. Ted's writing talent was enjoyed by many, through entertaining letters to the editor as well as articles written for a small business magazine published by Dunn and Bradstreet. He also wrote two books on small business and entrepreneurship, "Where have all the Woolly Mammoths Gone?"(1976) and "The Second Coming of the Woolly Mammoth"(1991). His most recent writings include the novel "Rack & Pinion Steering and the Meaning of Life". Most importantly, he was a man whose loving 62 year marriage to Alice was a thing we should all aspire to. He was a father (Karin, Kurt, Kate), grandfather (Maddie, Tyler, Bella, Melinda, Ann, Trevor), father-in-law (Jill, Jim), uncle, brother, brother-in-law, terrific friend and someone whose mark on our world left it a better place.

And if you'd like to celebrate his life, plans are being made for an event on February 16, 2019 at Islandwood on Bainbridge Island. For information, please visit

To the Frost family and friends: Please allow your fondest memories shared with Ted to be, forever, as a soothing blanket over your heart. Please consider Hosea 13:14 and John 6:40. May those words of promise bring you consolation and a small measure of peace. Please accept my sincere regards and heartfelt sympathy.
