Treophia L. BURKS January 11, 1922 ~ May 25, 2011 Treophia L. Burks 89, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2011 in Seattle Washington. Treophia was born in North Little Rock Arkansas. Her parents were Benjamin and Samantha Madison. Treophia married William Burks. William went to Glory in 1982. Treophia graduated from Scripio A. Jones High School in North Little Rock, Arkansas. During World War II the U.S. government trained many young women to work in factories while the men were off to war. Treophia with a group of courageous young women moved to Seattle to begin working at Boeing Aircraft Co. Treophia was an original "Rosie The Riveter". She retired after 45 years of service. Prior to the onset of Alzheimer's Treophia had been a supportive member of New Hope Baptist Church, Seattle, Washington. She contributed to charities, enjoyed music, Chinese checkers, puzzles, dancing, reading and learning something new. Treophia leaves behind (1) daughter, Delores Burks of Seattle, Washington and (1) grandson, Da'Venche J. Burks of Redlands, California. She also leaves to mourn her passing a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at Butterworth- Arthur A. Wright Chapel 520 W. Raye St., Seattle, Saturday, June 11, 2011, chapel service from 11:00 - 12:00 p.m. followed by cemetery service at 3:00 p.m. at Abbey View Cemetery in Brier, WA.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's society or to your favorite charity.
