Yoshiko YODER Yoshiko Yoder, 81, of Kirkland, WA, died peacefully on May 19, 2011. Yoshiko was born in Kobe, Japan on January 20, 1930 to Kenji and Tome Uenaka. Yoshiko married Sgt. William Yoder in Tokyo, Japan on July 27, 1953, relocating to the United States in 1955. Yoshiko became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1961. They raised three children together. Yoshiko was employed by the Social Security Administration in Salinas, CA, retiring after 25 years of service. After retirement, she moved to Kirkland, Washington to be closer to her children, grandchildren, and great granddaughter. During her 16-year residence in WA, she spent much of her time devoted to her family, her church, Overlake Christian, and the "Quilts of Love" group at Evergreen Hospital. Yoshiko is survived by two brothers and three sisters in Japan, Yoshiko's children; Charles (Cynthia) of Palmer Alaska, and Dwight (Melanie) of Kirkland, and daughter Billie Creelman (Steve) of Lynnwood. Yoshiko is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great granddaughter. A celebration of Yoshiko's life will be held at Overlake Christian Church in Redmond, on Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Yoshiko's name towards Alzheimer's research through www.alz.org.
