Marilyn L. Grey Obituary
Marilyn L. Grey

With heavy hearts we announce that Marilyn Grey passed from this life on April 30, 2018 after a brief illness resulting from complications of lymphoma. She was the daughter of Leslie and Louise (Misun) Grey, and sister of Ronald Grey of Baltimore, Maryland. She is survived by many friends and relatives who were not ready to say goodbye. Marilyn was born in Portland Oregon, attended Pasco High School and earned her Master's Degree in Psychology from Central Washington State College in 1967. She lived in the Seattle area for almost 60 years.

Marilyn led a big, full life in many guises. She was a psychologist, a civil rights activist, a songwriter, a storyteller, a generous humanitarian, and an all-round amazing human being. After she retired in 1991 from the Edmonds School District, she became a sought-after convention speaker, and traveled widely. She brought profound insights and hearty laughter to literally millions of people through her speeches. Marilyn co-authored a book with Betty Bender entitled "It's All in Your Head" about enhancing the functionality of our right brains and creativity. She was especially devoted to animals. She connected with people in a way that made her impossible to forget and moved through life with lightheartedness and compassion. With her kind smile and wise counsel, she helped us believe in our best selves.

Marilyn was cremated on May 7, 2018 and her ashes will be scattered in Maui. A celebration of her life will be held at the Shoreline Unitarian Universalist Church on August 4. Please contact Penny Peters or Sophie Clare for details.
