Dad,
I'm so sad you left us all so soon!! I never had the chance to say goodbye to you, but I sure hope you know that I love you!! You've always been so kind and warm to me when we would come to visit. Thank you for that!!
I'll miss talking to you and listening to your stories. What really amazed me about you is that you were always so sharp. Most people who are up there in age has old timer's disease but not YOU!! I'll miss hearing your books and author recommendations. Who's going to do that for me? Last time I saw you I got a chuckle watching you eating cookies over the kitchen sink. I didn't tell mom because I didn't want to get you in trouble.
Dad we'll be taking care of mom for you, so don't you worry. You will always be in my heart and thoughts. Thank you for being a part of my life and family.
Love Ya................ Carol

Hi Sidne:
Just learned about Dean from Guy. Our heart and prayers will always be with you. I remember the night we came to your New Years Eve party 1 day late. You answered the door in your PJ's. That was when I found out it was a Pre New Years Eve party and we missed it. But you did invite us in for a nice visit.
Dean was such a gentleman and a gentle man.
Love,
Joanne and Raleigh

Dino,
Standing and speaking in front of a crowd has never been easy for me therefore this letter that I hope you will receive in the better place where you have arrived. I want you to know and understand how much you have meant to me and the family over the 48 yrs of our marriage. Your constant love and strong support for the the well- being of family, friends and those in need of any calling will always be remembered. You were always there for me with complete and patient understanding to helping me climb what seemed like insurmountable mountains! I will cherish the long evenings until midnight when you sat with me at the dining room table working thru difficult real estate transactions that perplexed me when I was employed as an agent. The jobs I have held and enjoyed over the yrs, I could never have accomplished without your patience and encouragement. My endless passion to draw and paint - again you stood by me quietly but were always there to encourage those pursuits. You were such a constant support and always so proud of anything I did with my time spent drawing.
I am thinking back to your time helping me paint two old apartment units in Florida when I was a teacher for Head Start and your endless hours of volunteering for Special Olympics and Little Bit Therapeutic Riding - both being for the mentally and physically challenged. And... for a man who said he did not like to dance when we married, you soon became an avid square dancer - big time for 20 plus years. You were President of two dance clubs and you were so dedicated and good with you wonderful and kind leadership. Then in retirement, at your dream home on Mason Lake, you drove time after time for Mason County Transit taking seniors to doctor appointments and more.
Your struggle with health issues these last several years no long plagues you. You are at peace now and we will meet again and I look forward to that reunion with you.
And...as you know - every time I found a penny on the street, I picked it up knowing it was tossed by an angel from heaven. Now, even more so, I will retrieve those coins as they will be a loving message from you. You are one of heaven's newest angels.
I love you,
Your wife

Dear Sidne and Family: Jeff recounted the touching memorial service to me last night and it sounds like it was truly a celebration of Dean's life and spirit. I want to personally send my condolences and well wishes to you all. Dean will be missed greatly. He was a spitfire and a light in all of our lives. I have no doubt that he is up there, surrounded by love, smiling down on all of us--but especially watching over you all like an angel. All my best to you.

We have so many fond memories of Dean as our "sagwagon" driver for our annual bicycle ride from North Bend to Vantage for about 8-9 years in a row starting in about 1991. He had his pickup truck loaded with ice, gallons of water and gatorade to get us safely through our 100 miles in one day-in the heat of the summer. It certainly wasn't a race, with us stopping for pancakes at the top of Snoqualmie Pass, but he certainly encouraged us during what was a very long day for him. On more than one occasion a mechanical or human break-down had one of us riding with him in the comfortable cab of that truck. More than once, Dean gladly obliged a cyclist suffering from the heat by dumping ice water down their neck and back-with a gleam in his eye. With usually 8-9 of us, we felt like we had a guardian angel with us on each of those rides with him pulled off to the side of the road, taking a head count as we passed by - now we truly do all have one more guardian angel, forever. Thank-you Dean. We are proud to have known you.

I’ll never forget that morning- just you, a mildly grumpy nurse, and me.
We talked about many things before you asked, “can I ask you a personal question”?
I answered you sincerely, to which you followed up with perhaps the most heartfelt thoughts I’ve heard. You conveyed your love for Joni and the joy you have felt seeing her so happy once she and I found each other. You expressed your confidence that we will work hard to have a successful marriage and enjoy our lives together. Trust me, I will love Joni forever.
Thanks, Dad, for the privilege of being part of your family.

Dear Sidne, Joni and Kevin,
The loss of Dean is heavy on our hearts. We will miss him. He lived his life to the fullest with a confident, thoughtful and compassionate hand. He touched the lives of so many people and each is better for it. I am reminded by a poem from an unknown author of a true level of peace. He will always live within our hearts. Love, Deb, Jenna, Jason and Steve
I HAVE A PLACE IN HEAVEN
Please don't sing sad songs for me,
Forget your grief and fears,
For I am in a perfect place
Away from pain and tears...
It's far away from hunger
And hurt and want and pride,
I have a place in Heaven
With the Master at my side.
My life on earth was very good,
As earthly life can go,
But Paradise is so much more
Than anyone can know...
My heart is filled with happiness
And sweet rejoicing, too.
To walk with God is perfect peace,
A joy forever new.

You will remain in my memory as the handsome young boy you were while we were at West Queen Anne. As instrumental as you were in my introduction to a new school and a new world, is it any wonder that I will remember you that way. The pleasure of visiting with you and Sidne at Mason Lake gave me the opportunity to tell you how much you meant to me and I am forever grateful for that time.
My sympathies are with your family and friends who I know will miss you as much as do I.

Dean, we haven't known each other very long, but we were delighted when our families were "united" by Joni and Neil. Thanks for including us in your reunion last summer at Orcas. You have had an interesting life and we enjoyed chatting with you about your experiences, but feel we were just getting started when you were snatched away. You will always be in our hearts and we will love and care for your Joni, Sidne and your entire family as you would have done. I felt very close to you, not only because of the marriage of our children, but perhaps because our birthdays are only 14 days apart! Pilots speak of their last flight "WEST" ...we hope you had a good flight Dean, void of turbulence and CAVU weather all the way! Hope we may get together again someday......to continue our chat! Godspeed my friend!

Dad, It's just not the same without you. I'm going to miss all your humorous sayings, your mellow loving demeanor and sly smile. You were a great role model for me and thank you for your love and patience in raising me. I'm going to miss chuckling and kidding you about repairing everything with Duct Tape. I'm sure their stock has tumbled. You will always live on in my heart.
I made a website for all your friends to visit. I hope you can feel the love as they look at your photos and memories as you so have touched their lives.

Dean I'm so fortunate to have you as a brother-in-law. Will miss your great humor, loving friendship and your inspiration to me to "keep at it" at the gym. Thanks for being the guiding, providing and loving husband and father to Sidne.

What can I say about my dear friend Dean? A lot!. I have only known Dean for only forty-three years. During this short time I have grown to love the man like a Brother. It was he who stepped up for me back in 1973. He found me a job in Boeing Seattle. My family and I found his wonder friendly family to live near. Somehow, we always knew we were there for each other. We will miss Dean but keep Him and His always in our memories. May God bless and keep him for us till we meet again. Our next meeting will be forever. Sid and Annette Grusnick wish to express our condolences to the Fuller’s extended Family.
