Mary Jo (Giacobazzi) KILIAN My Elegant Scarf Lady is gone from her earthly life. Mary Jo was born August 11, 1934 in Havre, MT and died Jan 1, 2011. She was the daughter of Andrew (Jack) and Helen Giacobazzi. The family moved to Missoula, MT, then to Seattle in 1947. Mary Jo attended Blessed Sacrament school, Holy Names Academy (class of 1952) and Seattle University. On August 20, 1955 she married Robert Kilian and in 2010 they celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. She did various volunteer jobs when her children were in school. After her youngest child graduated from high school, she went to work in the dental office of Dr Don Blair, retiring after 25 years as receptionist and office manager. She loved her work, the staff and the patients. Mary Jo was a people person, and all those who knew her, loved her. She zigzagged through life, enjoying shopping, home making, shopping, home tours, shopping, garden tours, stylish dress, lunch with her girl friends, travel to Europe and China, winters in Hawaii and shopping. In 2004 she was diagnosed with the damnable disease of ovarian cancer, and therein emerged My Elegant Scarf Lady, as well as the ultimate cause of her death. She is survived by Robert and their two children, Karen Kilian, Seattle and Scott (Katie) Kilian and grandchild, Emma, all of Denver. She leaves her sisters, Jean (Terry) Mosness, Ft Collins, CO and Sue (Brian) Gribble, Maui, HI and her brothers, Peter Giacobazzi (Leah), Tarzana, CA and Joe Giacobazzi (Gail), Sammamish. She was pre-deceased by her parents and brother, John. In lieu of flowers, please send donations, in her name, to the Marsha Rivkin Center for Ovarian Cancer Research, 801 Broadway, Suite 701, Seattle WA 98122, or charity of your choice. She had a wonderful family and friends who provided endless support, and she cherished life. Special thanks to Dr Ken Kraemer and staff for their valiant and caring efforts and to Evergreen Hospice for their compassionate final care. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Jan 13 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Louise Parish in Bellevue, WA. Reception will follow at Glendale Country Club. Mr. Kilian, Scott, Karen, Family and Friends,
My family and I would like to send our very deepest sympathies for your loss. Mary Jo is one of those fixtures from SE 16th STREET that I will never forget. Always a care and a smile. Today I lit a candle in memory and will every time I think of her.

We're so sorry for the loss of your mother, Karen. She was a lovely lady, from the sounds of her obituary. Perhaps she's in heaven now, teaching the angels how to coordinate their scarves with their flowing robes!
Our sympathies.

My thoughts are with your entire family. I have very fond memories of Mary Jo from when I was growing up. I last saw Mary Jo when she and Bob attended my mother's 70th birthday 5 years ago. It was a pleasure to talk to both and catch up. It is very clear to me that Mary Jo loved her family and she will be missed by friends and family members.

to friends and family of Mary Jo, she has been a big part of mine and my children's lives at Dr. Blair's office. She was and will continue to be a guardian angle.
