Beth Shira CARVER The world has lost a talented artist and special person. Beth Shira Carver, born in 1943 in Alert Bay village on Cormorant Island, British Columbia (near Vancouver Island), died October 12, 2011, as a result of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. After attending a small school in Alert Bay, then living numerous other places in Canada and California, Beth moved to South King County. It was there she met and married Monroe Carver, the 'man of her life' who also shared her passion for art. From the time she was a little kid, her art was recognized as outstanding and Monroe really encouraged her. Monroe died April 25, 2011. Beth's art was in multiple galleries. People living all over Canada and the US have her creations. Recogni tion of her talent came through in articles written about her. Beth has worked in numerous mediums: oil painting (her favorite!), water colors, sculpture, pen and ink, stained glass, and fused glass. And all of those skills were self-taught. Most recently, in July 2011, she won 3rd place at the Equine Art show at Emerald Downs for her fused glass piece. Previously she'd won Oregon's statewide exhibit. Friends will long remember Beth's lifelong love of art (and rocks) as well as her smile and wonderful laughter. A service will be held on Sunday, October 16, at 1:00 p.m. at Sephardic Brotherhood Cemetery, 1230 N. 167th St., Shoreline. For those who wish to, Beth preferred that contributions be made in her name to Bet Chaverim, 1911 SW Campus Drive, PMB#562, Federal Way, WA 98023.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

The Daughters of Judy and Elliot (deceased) Simons of JUEL creations. We´re going through treasures of our parents and came upon many pieces of both Beth and Monroe art.
We are sorry to hear of both of their deaths. Our Mother is still alive and has fond memories of doing art shows with them.

Beth has been a dear friend, and an inspiration to me. Along with the deep beauty of her person and her art, she was one of the most courageous woman I have ever met. Beth suffered so much of her life, but bravely met the challenges of her journey toward healing and wholeness. As she found this, she rejoiced in experiencing life fully each day - in her great, loving relationship with Monroe; in childhood memories of her beloved children; in the beauty of nature expressed in her art, as well as created in her home and garden; in the joys of friendship; and, more recently,
in renewing the spirituality of her Jewish faith, and belonging to a loving and supportive Jewish community. (Years before "Interfaith" and "Ecumenical" were "in," Beth and I, as the best of friends, teased about being "the Catholic Nun and the Jewish Woman" who shared so much of our lives and our spirituality.)
Beth faced death with the same courage with which I had known her to face life when it was the most challenging for her.
Thank you, Beth, dear friend and companion, for all that we've shared for over thirty years. I'll miss you so very much, but I know that you're in God's eternal loving embrace. May you rest in Peace!
Much Love,
Joan
