Michael Higman Obituary
Michael John Higman ("MJ") was born on 11.26.84 in Seattle and died unexpectedly on 2.2.13. He lived his entire life in the Seattle area.
For the past two years MJ was a 4.0 average student at Shoreline Community College studying sustainable energy. He made the President's List every semester. He loved reading and cooking for himself, especially stir fry. He also had a passionate love for the Seahawks, and his motorbike. His great memory for events and details often astounded his family and friends and especially his grandparents, with whom he maintained a close relationship. MJ was preceded in death by his mother, Cheryl Kuxhouse, who died in May 1999. He is survived by his father, Michael B. Higman and wife Elaine, his sister Amanda Batey, brother Jesse Sullivan, brother Joe Higman, grandparents John and Juanita McKinnon and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He is also survived by his beloved cat, Isabelle.
A Celebration of Life will be celebrated on Friday, February 15th at 11:00 am at Yarington's Funeral Home, 10708 16th Ave SW in Seattle. A reception will follow at 1pm at Yarington's.
Donations in his name can be made to The Humane Society for Seattle/King County (www.seattlehumane.org).

Wow, I don't even know how to express my condolences to Michael's family. Michael was my very first boyfriend ever. We were together for 3 years. I've spent a lot of time with him and his family and I'm in a state of shock that he is gone. You never think this sort of thing could happen to someone you know.. I'm sad I didn't know him in my adult years. This world won't be the same without him.

I was Michael's professor in economics at Shoreline CC. I really appreciated having him in class. Smart, well-informed, and insightful. His sense of humor used to crack up the whole class. I wish I had more students like Michael. I am so sad to hear he is gone, and want his family and friends to know how much he meant to me and his fellow students.

I was one of Michael's instructors in the Clean Energy program at Shoreline CC. What a great student and person! Smart, engaging, passionate, and knowledgeable, Mike brought such a wonderfully positive energy to class. He was quick to help others with an explanation and contributed to class discussions with great on-topic comments and information. I am very sad to hear of Mike's passing, and send my sincere condolences to family and to his friends who, like me, are missing one really terrific guy.

I know a lot of people are missing you right now. You were as much part of their lives as those you grew up with. The conversations you had with them had affection and a bond that not a lot of people can relate to. I hope one day I can have the values you did.

I'm sorry about the lost. He was a person who could be admired. He stood up when others hid in the crowd. He would say what he felt when others just thought in quiet. I hope you remember not how he left us but how he lived and connected with you.

I had only known Michael through a couple of Facebook groups, for the last two years, but I got to know him well enough to know that he was one of the good guys. He was one of the nicest people I have ever met, and one of the smartest too. I am going to miss our friendly debates on football, and our conversations about just random things. My thoughts and prayers go out to his father, his brothers, and those who were closest to him. Rest In Peace my friend.
