Carol-Leigh Boeder Obituary
Carol-Leigh Boeder

1942 -2014

Born in Seattle, Carol-Leigh Coombs attended Laurelhurst, Eckstein, and Roosevelt High School before entering the University of Washington, where her father was a professor of geology. After graduation she studied in Germany, first at the University Munich and then, on a Fulbright Scholarship, at the Freie Universitaet Berlin. She completed her graduate studies at Yale University where she met and married her husband Tom. When Tom was drafted and sent to Vietnam, Carol-Leigh returned to Seattle where she became an editor at the University of Washington School of Medicine, working on grant proposals, manuscripts, and a five-volume textbook in biochemistry. After retirement she pursued her interests in travel, languages, opera; and turquoise jewelry. She is survived by her husband Thomas L. Boeder, a Seattle attorney. Remembrances may be made to Bailey-Boushay House through The Virginia Mason Foundation, P.O. Box 1930, Seattle WA 98111.
