Ruth Vivian Sulman

Ruth Vivian Rose Sulman passed away April 8 surrounded by her loving family. Ruth was born in Seattle on August 17, 1923. She grew up on 26th Avenue in Seattle and graduated from Garfield High School where she met many of her lifelong friends and her husband Stanley (Tiny) Sulman.

Ruth had two passions - golf and family. Tiny and Ruth moved from View Ridge to Bellevue in 1968 settling into their home on the 3rd tee of Glendale Country Club. Ruth became active in the Glendale Women's Golf Association, eventually becoming President of the Seattle Women's Golf Association and the Washington State Women's Golf Association. Glendale became the center of her social life. The Sulman family, Ruth, Tiny and her sons Harold and Stuart, spent many evenings at the dinner table recapping, hole by hole, shot by shot, their day of golf.

As important as golf was to Ruth, it could not compete with her love of family. Ruth was the youngest of four children born to Celia and Harry Rose. Her sister June, and brothers Red and Moe and their families were very close. Ruth was the matriarch of the family. She loved to cook and entertain and was an expert at both. Her kitchen was the heart of the home for friends and family. She was the first to offer a hand to anyone needing help. As much as she loved her sons, nieces and nephews and sisters and brothers, no one was more fortunate to have Ruth in their lives than her grandchildren. One of Ruth's very close friends once joked , "When I come back in my next life I want to be one of Ruthie's grandchildren". That was no joke. She dearly loved and cared for all her grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her children, Harold and Alice Sulman and Stuart and Barbara Sulman, grandchildren Carin and Scott Jacobson, Scott Sulman and Kelly Courtney, Stephanie and Jason Burns, Jeffrey and Isa Sulman, David Sulman and Emily Sulman, her great grandchildren Ryan, Luke, Jackson, Riley, Jonah and Rhys and by her loving nieces and nephews. We all will love you and miss you forever.

Funeral services will be held at Bikor Cholim Cemetery, 1340 N. 115th Street at 11:00 AM Monday, April 11. Remembrances may be made to the charity of your choice.
