Lt. Col. Arthur Clyde Mussman, USAF (Ret.)
Arthur Clyde Mussman, born in Cincinnati Ohio on March 18, 1932 to Walter Blaine and Evelyn Clyde (Stanforth) Mussman. His Dad served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and died in the service of his country. He graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1954, and entered the US Air Force as a Lieutenant.
While stationed in Darmstadt, Germany, he met Mary Ellen Yost who was teaching in the Darmstadt American School. They married on 1 February 1958 in the Darmstadt Post Chapel.
In 1979, Art and Mary retired from Air Force life and settled in Renton, where Art began a second career as a system analyst with Boeing. He had a severe stroke in 1990 and took a disability retirement from Boeing in 1992, moved to Kirkland and dedicated themselves to family and volunteer work. In 2017, he was honored with the state of Washington AARP Andrus Award for community involvement.
Art passed away on December 13, 2018 from pneumonia. He is survived by his daughter Anne Vitolo, his son Michael, and two half sisters, Susan Stanforth of Rockford, IL, and Betsy (Rick) Gausling of Cincinnati.
A memorial celebration will be held January 21, 2019 at 10am at St Jude Catholic Church, 10526 166th Ave. NE, Redmond WA. Interment will be at
Tahoma National Cemetery.
