Marie Egan Brix AITKEN A life well lived. Born September 24, 1903 in Tacoma, Washington. Died November 7, 2006 in Seattle, Washington. Lover of family, generous, and caring, she was born Marie Egan in Tacoma, Wa. She went to Stadium High School where she met her future husband, Walter Brix. Walter and his family were in the logging business on the Pacific coast. They married in 1922 after graduation. In the September 9th, 2006 Tacoma Tribune Marie was honored as the oldest living alumni of Stadium High Schools Centennial Celebration. Wherever the Brixs lived, Marie found voice or piano students, sang in the choir; always finding a musical outlet for her talent. She had a radio program in Portland in which she accompanied herself on piano. After Walter's untimely death, she traveled the world extensively were she met and married B. Thomas Aitken. An independent banker from New Jersey.After his death, she moved back to Seattle to be close to her family. Marie was a member of Broadmoor Golf Club. She was an avid bridge player and long time member of the ACBL. She was a life master. She was also a member in her earlier years at Aberdeen Presbyterian Church where she directed the choir. She is survived by two daughters, Enid Post, and Kathleen Russell, both of Seattle. Four grandchildren, Carol Hanchett, Christine Wakefield, Marie Randish, and Eric Kirbach, six great grandchildren, Christine Hanchett, Alex Hanchett, Jennifer Randish, Chistopher Randish, Alex Kirbach, and Steven Kirbach, and one great-great grandchild, William Hanchett. All family and many friends will always remember a life well lived and full of love. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to your favorite charity. I did not know this matriarch, but her picture reminded me of my Mother who was born about then and had the head bow. About 1989 many Russian Christains came here and the girls were all wearing those bows.
