Karlis Rekevics

Karlis REKEVICS Born October 2nd, 1931 in Liepaja, Latvia, left us peacefully on October 10th, 2002. Karlis was a man whom few could describe adequately - stoic, quiet, opinionated and usually right. He challenged everyone who knew him by making you question and think. He is survived by his wife Vija, son Karlis and daughter Elizabete. His life was well-lived, and included travels around the world, great architectural accomplishments and mesmerizing artwork. Among his favorite things were clock making, restoring vintage British cars, art (watercolors), and all things of beauty. Among his many contributions to the city of Seattle was his integral part in the revitalization of the Pike Place Market in the early 70s - Karlis was the lead Architect for the project. He was also a partner at Bassetti Architects until he retired in 1996. His presence is sorely missed and he has left an indelible impression on those who knew him.
