Ernest C. Blair, the son of the late Irvin and Rachel House Blair was born in Laurel County, Kentucky on July 9, 1919. He is survived by his wife, Ada Elkins Blair, of London, two daughters, Clara Hatcher and husband Gene, Barbara Davenport Cottrell and husband Steve, of London, two sons, Robert Wayne Blair and wife Charlotte, Tony Blair and wife Renee, of London, and his father and mother-in-law, Dave and Ethel Elkins, of East Bernstadt. Plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.In addition to his parents, a son, Ernest Coleman Blair Jr, and two brothers, Jake Blair and Palmer Blair preceded him in death.He was the pastor of New Bethel United Baptist Church for 54 years, owner and operator of Blair Auto Parts and a veteran of the United States Army Corps of Engineers during World War II.Elder Ernest C. Blair departed this life on Saturday, June 7, 2008, being 88 years, 10 months and 29 days of age.Funeral services for Elder Ernest C. Blair were conducted Monday, June 9, 2008, at 2 p.m. in London Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Joseph and Rev. Darren Cupp officiating.Burial followed in Lincks Cemetery at Fogertown, Ky., with the local D.A.V. in charge of military honors. The family of Elder Ernest C. Blair received friends at London Funeral Home after 4 p.m., Sunday, June 8.In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to Gideons International, P.O. Box 131, London, KY 40743.Pallbearers were Dillon Blair, Bob Hatcher, Mike Hatcher, Jamie Davenport, Steve Cottrell and Gene Hatcher.Honorary pallbearers were Kyle Rudder, Don Blair, Ernest Wayne Blair, Don Elkins, Jamie Elkins and Ronnie Elkins.London Funeral Home was in charge of all the arrangements.
