Joan Patricia Schweitzer, 84, of Shelbyville, Kentucky passed away on February 2, 2019. She was a homemaker and member of South Oldham Christian Church.
From the time she was a little child, Joan's (Better known in the family as Grammy) primary goal in life was to get married and raise a loving family. From 1957 until 17 days before she died, Grammy's family grew through births and marriages. Her heart continued to expand with each addition. To each she showed the same endless love. Her last words to each were "I love you."
Joan was born on March 28, 1934, Newark, New Jersey to the late George and Rose Betz.
She was also preceded in death by her Sister, Lois Freeman, Brothers, George Betz, and Bruce Betz.
Joan is survived by her loving Husband of 63 years Edward William Schweitzer Jr., Daughter, Pamela Diane Tamme, Sons, Edward William Schweitzer, III, Steven Douglas Schweitzer (Laura), and Sister, Nancy Rochelle, Grandchildren, Piper Stallard (Luke), Jordan Schweitzer (Ryan), Lindsey Hartlage (Buck), and Ian Schweitzer (Hannah), and Great-Grandchildren, Canaan, Niam, Carter, Deacon, Asher, Gracyn, and Tallulah.
Visitation will be on February 7th, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (235 Juneau Drive, Louisville). Her Celebration of Life ceremony will be held February 8th, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hosparus of Louisville (6200 Dutchmans Ln, Louisville, KY 40205) and Kentucky Right to Life (134 Breckinridge Lane Louisville, KY 40205)
