SHELBYVILLE- Mary Lou Derringer, 82 of Shelbyville, passed away on Saturday, the 2nd day of February, 2019, at Baptist Health Louisville. Born in Ohio County, she was the daughter of the late Hubert and Minnie Dee Cummings Hoover. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Shelbyville, where she was formerly active in her Sunday School Class and as a volunteer in the Touched Twice ministry, in Vacation Bible School, and on the bereavement committee. The former owner and operator of the Powder Puff Beauty Salon, she and her husband were active in real estate endeavors and managing their rental properties. Together they also owned and operated the Pot O Gold Jewelry Store, the Swap N Post Antiques Shop, and the Shoe Box. For over twenty years, she was the director of the Miss Shelby County Pageant. Her memberships also formerly included the Ski Club at Guist Creek Lake, and playing mahjong had become one of her favorite pastimes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Charlene Mary Derringer, and her son-in-law, Michael Koerber.

Her survivors include her husband of over sixty-one years, Charles C. Derringer of Shelbyville; her daughters, Teresa Derringer Lunsford and her husband, Taylor, of Harrodsburg, Felecia Koerber of Prospect, and Dee Lisa Parr and her husband, Gene Parr, Jr., of Shelbyville; her brothers, Ronnie Greene of Owensboro, and Larry Greene of Orange County, California; her ten grandchildren; her fifteen great-grandchildren; and her five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, the 5th day of February, 2019, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Shelbyville, with the Reverend Dr. Maurice Hollingsworth officiating. Interment will be in the Grove Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M., until 8:00 P.M., Monday, 4 February 2019, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Shelbyville.
