Donald Curran
Donald Curran passed peacefully, dignified to the end, on October 30th, 2013 with his family by his side, at the age of 83.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents William and Vera Curran, his siblings Robert Curran & Audrey Dugan, and former wife Irene. Don is survived by his sister June Nugent, two loving daughters Debbie Scanlon and Vicky (Randy) Martinez, loving companion Judy Curran and his beloved dog Ziva. He was Grandfather to John Scanlon, Dawn (John) Pavon, Crystal Scanlon, Nichole Martinez, Kyle Martinez, and Michelle Martinez and the proud Great Grand Pop to Kaila and Anthony Pavon and Izabella Scanlon. He was also the step father to Sherri Trent and step grandfather to Mike(Amy) Scanlon, Joshua (Heather) Martinez.
Don was born and raised in San Francisco and was a graduate of, Poly High School. In 1955 Don built his family a home in Belmont, CA. This home became host to many family holiday celebrations and countless memories with loved ones and friends.
Don was a veteran of the Navy where he and proudly served his country as a Seabee in Midway. He pursued an extensive career in the construction industry and worked for many years with the company, Associated Construction and Engineering. In the later part of his career Don established and successfully managed his own business, Curran Construction. Don also coached basketball at IHM.
Don, otherwise known as Mr. Curran, Dad, Pa or Pop, was a proud Irish man who enjoyed entertaining friends and family. His hobbies included; smelt fishing at Martin's Beach, cooking , boating at Lake Berryessa, gardening, wood working, street painting, duck hunting, sports(Go Raiders!) and reading. Pa had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed laughing and playing practical jokes. He was a man with a strong opinion, sound advice, and a kind heart.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all who supported and cared for and shared great friendships with Pa over the years. He was very thankful and felt fortunate to have you as a part of his life. Your support and friendship meant so much to him.
Don lived a full and rewarding life and although he will be dearly missed, his spirit will be remembered and live on through his loved ones eternally.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life on Friday, November 15th, 2013 at 11 AM at Skylawn Funeral Home in the Crystal Springs Chapel, Hwy 92 at Skyline Boulevard, San Mateo.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any of Pa's favorite organizations: Paws, PO Box 601, Fowler, CA 93625, American Veterans or the charity of your choice.
