Ranny Raquel Obituary

Ranny R. Raquel

December 10, 1927 - April 3, 2016

In 1927 on December 10, Ranny Rinaldo Raquel was born into this world & he left us quietly on April 3, 2016. How can you adequately summarize 88 years of a life in a few paragraphs? There is a lifetime of people & experiences ... some are cherished memories, some have been forgotten & some are now lost to us.

He met his future wife, Sylvia Tardito, through his best friend, Alfred Cerro. In 1956 he made Sylvia his wife & they settled in her hometown, South San Francisco. They greeted their first born, a son, Ronald, in 1962. Their second child, daughter Julie, was born in 1966.

Despite the long hours he worked in management at the United States Postal Service, he was a devoted father & husband & fiercely protective of his family.

Throughout the years, the small family grew, welcoming Ron's wife, Lisa Zucconi, followed by their children Christina & Angelina. Soon afterwards, he gained a son-in-law when Julie married Alan Chimenti.

Life rolled along, a steady routine of unremarkable events that shape a normal, fulfilling life. Beloved family members & friends were lost over the years; each were mourned & their memories etched into our hearts, never to be forgotten.

Now we say goodbye to the man, who, as a child survived Japanese internment at Santo Tomas during WWII. A child who grew into a young man who persevered & proudly created a happy & secure life for himself & his family. A man who continually strove to improve his mind & expand his knowledge through books & formal education. A man who, behind his soft-spoken manner & quiet demeanor, had a quick wit & wicked sense of humor. A man who was able to spend his final years in the comfort & peace of his own home - thanks to Sylvia's stubborn determination, the compassionate care of several caregivers as well as Dr. William Zigrang, Dr. Yun-Ying Shi & their staff. They never gave up on him & continued to treat & care for him with the respect & dignity he deserved. We now mourn Ranny but are grateful for his loving memory etched into our hearts, never to be forgotten.
