Alexander Cichy Obituary
Alexander Cichy

Alexander Cichy left this world on September 4, 2018, after a long battle with lung disease. Born in Detroit, Michigan in 1941 to Sylvia and Casimir Cichy, he attended Cranbrook School in Bloomfield Hills and graduated from Cooley High School. Alex was a graduate of Wayne State University and a member of Pi Kappa Alpha. A San Francisco resident since 1968, Alex was a prominent figure in advertising, holding creative director and senior leadership roles at BBDO, Hal Riney & Partners, Ogilvy & Mather, and Chiat-Day.

Alex was an expert fly fisherman for summer steelhead and trout, lover of gospel music and modern jazz, pitcher for his softball team, The Bombers, antique dealer, talented artist, spiritual mentor, loyal friend, and devoted husband and father. For all those who know and love him, his brilliant humor, curiosity, unmistakable style, warmth, sensitivity, and optimism will be profoundly missed.

Alex resided in Marin County and is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Marie Fisher, daughters Claire (Will) of Berlin, Germany, and Madeleine (Chris) of Seattle, Washington, his three sisters Barbara Adair, Camille Grendon, and Vicki Watson, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family held a private service and memorial service arrangements are pending. Donations in remembrance of Alex may be made to W.A.T.E.R., Mt. Shasta, California, and The Nature Conservancy, San Francisco.
