I was shocked and saddened to hear about Bruce's passing. I grew up with Bruce; we attended Hillcrest Elementary, Portola Junior High and Lowell High School together. Bruce served as student body president at both Hillcrest and Portola. I remember Bruce as someone who was easy to talk to and one could always count on his help when needed. Bruce had a way about him that demonstrated his wonderful kindness, warmth and sincerity. I will always remember Bruce's great smile. My deepest condolences to the Powell family

My twin brother, Ronnie and I went to Jr. High at Portola, and Lowell with Bruce. We were also neighbors living a few blocks away from his family home. He was a fine person, and we are both very sad, and sorry to see him gone from this world. Sincerely, Donnie Waits

When I first met Bruce I thought he was the most upstanding guy I had ever met. Not only was he clean cut, but was the quint essential gentleman. I knew Bruce only for a short time --- one year to be exact. I know this because I was a high school team mate of his. I was fortunate enough to share a championship with him. I will never forget that infectious smile. Not a care in the world. It was only a year, but we saw each other and bonded every day. Thank you Bruce for some wonderful memories. May the Lord continuously bless your family.

I remember Bruce from my days at Lowell High. He was one of the few Seniors who spoke to me on my first day at Lowell. The small act of kindness was very special to me. He will be missed.

I too was very saddened to hear of Bruce's passing. It is hard for me to think of anyone I've known who was kinder or more well liked.

Bruce and I grew up together in the same SF neighborhood, attending the same schools. I will always savor the memories of playing ball together at the local parks.Bruce was a fine athlete and an extraordinary person who inspired goodness in all who knew him.

I wish to extend my deepest sympathies and prayers to the Powell family. May Bruce always be remembered with the same warmth and kindness he showed to all of us.

To the Powell Family;
What a shock and loss to hear of Bruce's passing. It has been years since I have seen him and can remember the times I spent with the Powell Family as Barbara, Linda, Janet and I were in our full throw years at Lowell and Bruce entered Lowell the same year as my brother. Always mistaken for family, which we treasured, we keep this bond, even though we were not physically there. Losing Brue is like losing one of my own siblings, and all I can offer is my love, and prayers. Know he is watching over everyone of us and keeping us in his prayers. All my love to the you all.

My deepest condolences to the Powell family. It was a pleasure to know Bruce at Lowell. It's too bad more of us didn't stay in touch during all the years since Lowell. Don't let time pass.

I remember Bruce as being very nice, courteous and clean cut. He had everything together. Not a hair was out of place. He was a good football player and an all around good person. May god bless him and his family.

To the family of Bruce Powell I say "thank you" for allowing him to enter my life. My condolences are with you at this time of home coming. It was a joy knowing Bruce at Lowell High School, as a scholar, as well as, a teammate on the football and track teams. It was also a joy to see Bruce at the "Sportsman Barber Shop" in San Francisco, as recent as three years ago, where he would inform Irby Gaines, Pete Peterson (the two Barber's at the shop) and myself, as to how he, his wife and small son were doing. It was a pleasure knowing him and meeting his father( who made it a point of attending as many of Bruce's sporting events at Lowell as he could).

May he rest in peace and may our memories of him last forever.

I was just a little tike (a sophomore) when Bruce was a Lowell, but I do remember his wonderful personality and spirit. My prayers are with you at this time of sorrow, but know he is forever looking down and smiling on you his family and us his friends, just waiting until we all pass his way again. Hang on to the loving memories you have of him and they will carry you through.

I was startled to see Bruce's name in the Obits. My recollection of him from our Lowell High days is one of a Happy Go Lucky, hard working and total class act. The Lowell Class of 1973 sends our fondest condolences to his family at this time of his far too early passing.

Bruce and I go way back (since birth) as his parents are my God parents. I have many fond memories of him from our youth as our families camped and partied together. Sadly we did not keep in touch like we should have but each time I ran into him in recent years he was the same friendly, warm person I knew as a child. His laughter is still vivid in my memory. My friend I will miss you and I have missed you. The Adams' send their love and prayers to your family.

My deepest condolences to the Powell family. It was a pleasure to know Bruce at Lowell and I had the pleasure of running into him a few years back when he was with the PD. It was like being back in HS. He was as kind and personable as always. May God bless you.

To the Powell Family,
You have my deepest sympathy and also that of the Fisher/Graves Memorial Scholarship Fund. Bruce and I grew up together at Bethel AME Church and also went to Lowell High school together. No matter how busy he was, he would always stop and give you his full attention and offer to help you if he could. I always considered him a friend and am so sad that he has passed away so young. Debbie and Janet - you are in my prayers. Let me know if I can help in any way.

Although I hadn't seen Bruce for many years, his passing was a shock to me.
Bruce always was the essence of smooth, and a naturally graceful man. He always had kind things to say to and about the people he knew.
God bless the family and all those that mourn Bruce's passing.

To Bruce's family and friends, condolences abound. From my Lowell days Bruce was always there with a smile, and a quiet competitive fire. He raised the bar for himself and those around him. Your loss is felt by all of us who knew Bruce during the Lowell Class of '73 days, my deepest sympathies.

I am deeply saddened at Bruces' passing. I knew him as a fellow teammate on the football team and track team. More importantly, I knew him as a scholar and a great person around the Lowell High School campus. I just crossed paths with him- it seems- a few months ago (30 years later) and we were going to get together for coffee or lunch and catch up on things-kids, family, etc... My condolences to the Powell family and friends. If I can assist in any way, please let me know. Walter Brown, Jr. - Walnut Creek, Ca.

Bruce always had a smile on his face, and a pleasant word for anyone he met. I remember he was always very nice to me and would speak when he saw me and give me one of those wide, warm smiles of his. I'm glad we were a part of each other's lives.

I would like to send out my condolences to the Powell family. I grew up with Bruce and his family when they lived on Silliman Street in San Francisco. I have very fond memories of the time spent with Bruce playing sports together. I considered Bruce one of my closet friends at the time. I would also like to say that his family was very loving to me. Always accepting me for who I was. I have not seen Bruce in many years. (we lost contact when he went to work for the SFPD) I am sending out my love and good wishes to the Powell family during this trying time. Bruce will always have a place in my heart.
