Deshler Whiting Jr. Obituary
Deshler Whiting, Jr.

Deshler Whiting, Jr., of San Francisco, passed away Saturday, November 3. He was 57.
Deshler, aka Deshy, Freshy, Fresh Desh, Freshler, first and foremost loved his dogs. His world revolved around them. He also loved his country, the 4th of July, Bruce Springsteen, and the California Golden Bears. He graduated from UC Berkeley with a Bachelor's Degree in Rhetoric and had the debate skills to prove it. He loved his Bears, watched every football game, and believed Tedford got rooked.
Deshler also loved his Cow Hollow neighborhood, and was the connective thread in "the fabric of the community." He was cherished by his entire Cow Hollow family, a large group of folks who were blessed enough to know him for 25 plus years - especially his best friends Cameron Martin, Tom Spellicy, Michael Criscola, and Anne Lewis. He was also greatly loved by his close friends, Kurt and Karen Wilde.
Deshler is survived by his Mother, Monique LeSage of Novato, Father, Deshler Whiting, Sr. of Coronado, and Sister, Jennifer Whiting of Williamsburg, Massachusetts.
Deshler was a student of history, and had an enduring romance with the City of San Francisco. He especially appreciated the columns of Herb Caen, and we know he is sipping a gin martini with him, right now, in heaven.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, November 15 at St. Vincent De Paul Church 2320 Green Street in San Francisco.
