Dorothy Barker Rouse

Dorothy Barker Rouse of Redwood City, quietly passed away in her sleep on May 30, 2018. She was born on January 7, 1925 in San Francisco, California where she spent her early years. She attended school in the City graduating from Lowell High School in 1942. From there she sought her higher education, graduating UC Berkeley in 1946. Upon graduation she decided on a career in law and received her law degree at the University of San Francisco, graduating and taking the Bar in 1949. While studying law at USF, Dorothy met fellow student Allison Rouse and their friendship blossomed into love and they were married at Old St. Mary's Church in San Francisco in 1952. They pursued their law careers in San Francisco, later moving to Redwood City where both were associated with the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office until Allison was appointed to the Superior Court Bench and later elevated by then Governor Ronald Reagan to Associate Justice California Court of Appeal in San Francisco where he served until his retirement in 1988. Allison passed in 2005. Dorothy is survived by her sister, Beatrice Konda of Porterville, CA. One niece, Anne McCall of Loomis, CA and nephew John E. Konda of Terra Bella, California. Dorothy is also survived by five grand nieces and nephews and one great-grandnephew.

Friends may visit from 5pm - 8pm, Monday, June 18, with a Vigil at 7pm at Crippen & Flynn Woodside Chapel, 400 Woodside Rd. Redwood City. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, June 19, at 10am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Fulton & James Avenue, Redwood City. Entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma California.
