Jack Bonanno Obituary
Jack Francis Bonanno

Passed away peacefully on December 24, 2017, at the age of 79 in San Francisco, California. Beloved husband of his wife of over 40 years, Patricia Ilacqua Bonanno; loving father of Janine, Annette (Robert) Olinger, Jacqueline (Derrick) Pallas, and Catherine; doting grandfather to James Olinger, Samuel Pallas, and Abigail Olinger. Predeceased by his mother, Anna, father, Patrick "Pasquale," and brother, Stephen.
Jack was a proud native San Franciscan. He graduated from Francis Scott Key Elementary, Presidio Junior High, and Polytechnic High School where he was the student body president and a National Merit Scholar. He earned his bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of San Francisco where he was the top graduate, his Juris Doctor from the University of San Francisco where he was a member of the Honor Society, and his L.L.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University. He proudly served over 20 years and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the United States Army Judge Advocate General's Corps.
Jack loved the study of law. He dedicated most of his professional career to educating future lawyers, beginning with teaching at the Judge Advocate General's Legal Center and School in Charlottesville, Virginia, and, upon return to San Francisco, teaching at the University of San Francisco, U.C. Hastings, Golden Gate University, and San Francisco Law School. At his death, he had been a lawyer for almost 54 years and was happily splitting his time between private practice and being a law professor.
Everywhere he went, Jack made an impression. His smile, intelligence, curiosity, positive attitude, and kind demeanor made him an extraordinary man. He will be profoundly missed. Rest in Peace.
Friends may visit on Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 5-9pm and attend a Rosary at 7pm at Duggan's Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Avenue, Daly City. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 11am at St. Monica Church, 5920 Geary Blvd., San Francisco. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma. Donations may be made to Jack's parish church, St. Monica's, where he was a faithful and dedicated parishioner, lector and usher, and where his four daughters attended grade school.
