Joseph Edwin Padula

Joe Padula died peacefully on the morning of May 16th, at his home in San
Francisco after a brief illness.

Joe was born on October 5, 1938 in Albany, New York and took great pride in his Italian heritage. At an early age he moved to New York City. San Francisco became his home in 1967 during the "Summer of love". From the moment he arrived Joe loved living in San Francisco. He greatly enjoyed the beauty and life style of San Francisco and the rest of California with time spent in visits to Muir Woods, Yosemite, Big Sur, the mother lode, and Lake Tahoe. He spent a year away from San Francisco traveling in Africa, the Middle East and Europe.

Joe's career interests were in financial investments and real estate. In 1974 he worked closely with the late Steve Silver during the establishment of the still running North Beach musical revue "Beach Blanket Babylon". Joe's interests were reading, music, especially Mozart, art, philanthropic endeavors, his cats and providing a comfortable living environment to the residents in his apartment building. For many years Joe was a volunteer usher at the San Francisco War Memorial Opera House and assisted for five years in the feral cat colony program at Sutro Forest.

Joe kept informed on important world issues. his love of humanity was strong. He desired peace and harmony for all creatures, and hoped for an end to injustice, poverty, war and destruction of our environment.

Through the years Joe became a loyal friend and confidant to many. He will be greatly missed, his wit, and humanity will endure.
