Kingmun Siu Obituary
Kingmun Siu

July 5, 1942 - September 10, 2018

Kingmun Siu passed away in hospice care at home on September 10, 2018, in peaceful communion with his wife. Kingmun was born in San Francisco, grew up in Berkeley, lived in Oakland, and spent the last third of his life in Alameda. He loved the Bay Area and often said, "Why would I live anywhere else?"

Kingmun graduated from the UCSF School of Pharmacy in 1966. Being a pharmacist for more than 50 years was his proudest achievement. He worked in Audits and Investigations at the Medical Review Branch of the California Department of Health Care Services for 28 years until he retired in 2002. He then worked at the Kaiser Permanente Consolidated Processing Pharmacy before retiring in 2018.

Kingmun is predeceased by his parents, Kenneth Siu and Young Jin Quon; his brother Gene; his half-brothers Alvin and Joe (Arnold); his half-sister Alberta and her husband Kenneth Jew; his nephew Kenderson Jew; and his great-grandniece Haley Tom. Kingmun is survived by his wife, Reina Galanes, and their large multi-generational extended family. The family thanks his entire treatment team at Kaiser Permanente Oakland Medical Center, especially the Hematology Oncology Department (outpatient and inpatient teams). A celebration of Kingmun's life was held on October 27, 2018. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the UCSF School of Pharmacy (https://makeagift.ucsf.edu), SUDC Foundation (https://sudc.org/haleysrun/), and the Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter (http://www.alamedaanimalshelter.org/support/make-a-donation.html).
