LINDA HABER Obituary
Linda Vanderzicht Haber Feb. 15, 1948 - Apr. 6, 2012 Linda passed away peacefully in San Francisco after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her daughter, Abby Haber, sister-in-law, Debra Haber, and nephew, Matthew Hersh. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeffrey Haber, brothers James and John Vanderzicht and parents Gus and Gertrude Vanderzicht. Her early years in Florida instilled a love of life and nature that she brought with her to California where she met her life-long love, Jeffrey Haber. Their colorful personalities live on in Abby. Linda was intelligent, humorous and unfailingly generous to all. A hippie at heart, she wished us all to accept each other, as she saw the good in everyone. She enjoyed the company of a large and diverse group of friends with whom she shared her love of history, politics, rock and roll, nature and herbs. Going to a rock 'n roll concert was one of her greatest joys. If Bob Dylan, the Stones, Van Morrison or Dire Straits were anywhere in the area, Linda would be there and take as many people along with her as possible. Her home was always open to her many friends and family from Noe Valley and around the world. She could often be found on 24th Street chatting with the locals about the political passions of the day. Truly a one-of-a-kind character, a legend in her own time, Linda was greatly loved and will live forever in the hearts of all who knew her. Abby and the whole family are appreciative of all the love and support being shown her by Linda's community of friends. She is soon to graduate from Humboldt State University and has plans to attend nursing school. Your love and kindness will see her through. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 15th at 12:30 at Holy Innocents Church, 475 Fair Oaks Street, San Francisco with a celebration of Linda's life immediately following. Donations will be welcomed in Linda's name by uddami.org a charity close to her heart, or the .
