Louie John Ratto

Louie J. Ratto. died at home in Novato September 4, 2018 at the age of 94. He was the devoted husband of the late Dora, and beloved father of Sharon (late Bob) Salisbury, John (Diane) Ratto and Linda (Greg) Smith. He was the adored grandfather of; Deborah, Joseph, Cody, Shawn and Kelly, and great grandfather of Isabella, Giuliana, Brayden, Kenzie, Sara and Blake. Louie was the last of four children born to Bernardo and Matilda Ratto.
A native of Alameda, he attended school until enlisting in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He served as a tail gunner in the B24 Liberator, flying 35 missions during the war. After the war he returned home and began a long career in the scavenger business in San Francisco, retiring from Golden Gate Disposal and Recycling after 42 years. In retirement he spent enjoying his family, particularly his grandchildren. After Dora passed away he took up golf at the age of 78 and played often until the age of 90.
Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service Monday September 10, 2018 at 11:00 am at Valley Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel 650 Bugeia Ln. Novato, Ca. Entombment will be private at Valley Memorial Park Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Bryan Wells of Hospice By the Bay and Louie's buddy Sotia Sereki for their wonderful care. Memorial Contributions preferred to Hospice By the Bay.
