Louis Michael La Torre

Louis M. LaTorre passed away on October 7, 2018 just eleven days before his 98th birthday. He was a lifelong resident of San Francisco. Lou was born to Michael and Josephine (Sabella) LaTorre on October 18, 1920. After graduating from Galileo High School, he proudly served his country in the Army, during World War II. He was stationed in the Pacific Theater.

Upon returning from the war, Lou began his lifelong career as a partner in Sabella & LaTorre Restaurant on Fisherman's Wharf. He married the love of his life, Amelia DalPorto in 1946, and they had three daughters and two sons. Lou was an enthusiastic sports fan, avid golfer, and dedicated Giants and 49er fan. He loved to travel the world. For 25 years, with the help of Amelia and many friends, he organized and cooked a crab feed benefitting the Italian Catholic Federation.

Lou was a loving father, husband and Nonno. He is predeceased by his wife of 40 years, and is survived by his children, Linda Beltramo (Mario), Cindy Baxter (Mike), Michael LaTorre (Diane), Lori Bernardo (Guy), and Tom LaTorre (Tina). He was blessed with 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He will truly be missed by all of his family and friends.

The family gives special thanks to Lou's dedicated caregivers.

Friends may visit Wednesday, October 17, 2018 beginning at 5:00pm at St. Gabriel Church, 2559 40th Ave. San Francisco. The Vigil Service will begin at 7:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Church on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 11:00am on what would have been Lou's 98th birthday.
