I first got to know Mike in 1947 when we were fellow boarders at Menlo School. Have enjoyed his company and/or correspondence ever since. I think he was more responsible than anyone else for encouraging my own efforts at writing verse. I will miss him greatly and extend my deepest sympathy.

A gentleman and a fine poet. It was an honor to edit and publish his last book.
