Raymond Lawrence Bozzini

December 10, 1921 - November 2, 2018

Raymond Lawrence Bozzini was born in San Francisco at St. Mary's Help Hospital on December 10, 1921 and grew up South of Market Street.

He was the second of two sons of Giambatista Bozzini and Lena Bozzini, nee Canessa.

Educated by the Daughters of Charity at St. Patrick's Elementary School and attended Sacred Heart High School, Ray and his older brother George, both served in the US Army during WWII. Ray was discharged in 1946. He remained in the Bay Area, working at the Christian Brothers' Mont La Salle Winery on Mt. Vedeer in Napa, California.

Ray Married Bernice Mary De Martini, also a San Francisco native, in 1948 at St. Elizabeth's Church. They resided in the Portola District their entire lives, where their two sons were born and raised. He and Bernice traveled extensively throughout their marriage, visiting their son in Italy and spending Summers with their family on the Eel River. Ray and Bernice traveled to Punta Lobos, Mexico with their son Robert, where they spent many leisurely days by the sea.

Ray was truly a San Franciscan and dedicated civil servant for the City and County of San Francisco through his 40 year career as the Agricultural Commissioner and Sealer of Weights and Measures. He witnessed the transition of San Francisco during his long career and helped usher many of the changes through his department.

Ray was an active and dedicated member of many community organizations and president numerous times of The South Parlor of Native Sons of The Golden West and of The Municipal Executive's Association, to name a few.

He is survived by his sons Michael Lawrence and Robert James of San Francisco, and his nephew Anthony and his family of Saratoga, California, and his extended family and dear friends. Ray was a dedicated husband and father and was known for his kindness and good spirits by family, friends and co-workers and will be greatly missed by all.

In lieu of flowers , the family would like donations to be made to the New Camaldoli Hermitage, 62475 Coast Highway One, Big Sur, California 93920.

Friends may visit Friday, November 9th after 10am and are invited to attend a Rosary at 11am at Duggan's Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Avenue, Daly City. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Old Mission Road, Colma. A memorial mass and reception will be held on November 20th, Tuesday 10am at Christian Brothers Retreat & Conference Center Mont La Salle, 4401 Redwood Road, Napa, CA 94558.
