Roberta Wagener Obituary
Roberta "Betsy" Wagener

May 29,1940 - November 3, 2018

Roberta "Betsy" Wagener passed away peacefully at her home at the age of 78.
Betsy was a lifelong resident of Piedmont, CA
She was the daughter of Frederick Lask Greenlee and Roberta Oliver Greenlee.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband James Parry Wagener (also a lifelong Piedmont resident) and her brother Oliver Greenlee.
She is survived by her 2 children Sarah Wagener Marsh (Mike) and Peter Davis Wagener (Sarah) and her 5 grandchildren Kelly, Brandon, Maxwell, Molly and Quinn.
She is also survived by her brother Gordon Greenlee (Lowry) and her amazing cat, Samantha.

Betsy attended Anna Head School (currently Head Royce) and continued her education at Stephens College in Missouri.
Betsy married James Parry Wagener in 1966 and raised 2 children in Piedmont.
She was a 3rd generation Piedmonter. And her son Peter and his family still live in Piedmont, making this a 5 generation Piedmont Family!

Betsy was an active volunteer and enjoyed being of service to her community.
Her lifelong community groups included:
Claremont Country Club (Past President, Women's Golf)
Junior League of Oakland-East Bay
Hill Branch of Children's Hospital (1st class of Debutauntes in 1958 and Past Chairman of the Annual Winter Ball)
Piedmont Garden Club (Past President)
Piedmont Beautification Society
Piedmont Area Republican Women's Group
Home Gardeners
The California Society of Pioneers (as her family settled in CA prior to 1850)

Betsy will be remembered for her quick wit, dry sense of humor, solid moral compass, and "can do it" attitude.
She enjoyed her many activities including golf, mahjongg, bridge, dominos, luncheons and dinners with friends. She loved to travel and journeyed to many different continents including Europe, Asia, Antarctica and many states in the United States.

She was the guiding light in our family, a true matriarch, and she will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Memorial Services will be held this Friday at 2pm at Piedmont Community Church.
Reception to follow at Claremont Country Club.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Piedmont Beautification Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
