Samuel "Sam" Hunter Sause

Nov. 30, 1936 – Dec. 11, 2014

Born in Stayton, OR to Henry and Martha Painton Sause, Sam was the beloved husband of Helen; father of Paula Sause, David Sause (Cheryl), and Carole Sause McClintock; grandfather of Theresa, Debbie, Jolene, Campbell, Malcolm, and Hunter; brother of Mary, Anne, Sara, Catherine, Richard, Steve, and Roger. Sam and Helen made their home in Alameda for over 50 years.
Sam was a gentle loving man who touched the lives of many; he will be incredibly missed. He gave of himself selflessly at many charitable organizations including Christ Episcopal Church, the Seafarers Ministry, The Navy League, Alameda Rotary and Alameda Point Collaborative. Sam owned and operated Grand Transport for 25 years.
The Memorial Service will be on Sat., Jan. 10, 2015 at Noon at Christ Episcopal Church, 1700 Santa Clara Ave., Alameda. Donations in Sam's honor may be made to the Alameda Point Collaborative, Alameda Rotary Club or the Seamen's Church Institute-Bay Area.
