Sebastian Cimino Obituary
Sebastian "Sam" Cimino

Passed away peacefully in his home on October 4, 2018, at age 93. Sam was born in Tampa, Florida to Salvatore and Rosa Cimino, Sicilian immigrants, on September 6, 1925. He proudly served in the NAVY from 1944-1946. In 1947, he married Olga Torres and drove across country to San Francisco in 1950. Sam was happily married for 71 years and cared for Olga for many years when she developed Alzheimer's.
Besides working for Southern Pacific RR, Sam was a bartender at several SF bars as well as owning his own bar, the Via Vai, with his brother Peter. Sam loved to tell stories, play racket ball, was fiercely competitive, and a loyal fan of the SF 49ers and Giants. He was a role model/father figure for many.
Sam is survived by his wife, Olga, and his daughters: Linda (Frank) Cookson, Diana (Mike) Burleson, Cynthia (Orestes) Hnatt; grandchildren: Scott (Nicole) Cookson, Lisa (Kevin) Kerr, Chad (Nicole) Burleson, Shannon Burleson, Krista (Steven) Barber, and Rachael (Adam Andrew) Hnatt; 8 great-grandchildren from the ages of 14 to 2 years; sister-in-law Leila Whitmire; plus many beloved nieces and nephews. Sam was predeceased by his brother, Peter Cimino, his brother-in-law Joseph Hayden, and his recently deceased sister, Katherine Hayden.
A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00am on Monday, October 15, 2018 at Duggan's Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave., Daly City followed by the burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma.
