William B. Parmer Obituary
William B. Parmer

William B. Parmer, M.D., a San Francisco internist treasured by his many patients for his devoted, hands-on care, died on October 2, 2015. He was 69.

A 1968 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Columbia University, he received his medical degree at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed his internship and residency at Montefiore Medical Center in New York.

He was affiliated with California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) in San Francisco and practiced medicine for more than 35 years. In addition to his private practice, he was active on many hospital committees and was passionate about the education of medical residents.

Dr. Parmer was an avid reader and had deep knowledge in many areas, including classical music, literature, politics and sports. He was an accomplished tennis player, gardener and landscape painter.

Above all, he cherished his family. Survivors include his wife Joan of San Mateo and his daughters, Julia and Ilana of San Francisco; his mother Miriam Parmer of Great Neck, N.Y. and his sister, Laura Skodol of Phoenix, AZ. He is predeceased by his father, Dr. Leo G. Parmer.

The Dr. William Parmer Memorial Fund in Support of Medical Resident Education has been established at CPMC in his honor. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dr. William Parmer Memorial Fund, CPMC Foundation, 2015 Steiner St., San Francisco, CA 94115 (www.CPMC.org/giving). For any questions, call Greg DeiRossi, 415-600-2415.
